    Using AAMC PREview Data in Medical Student Selection

    This guide provides admissions officers and their committees with information about the design, interpretation, and use of the PREview exam. It also:

    • Gives an overview of the PREview exam and summarizes results from nearly a decade of research.
    • Presents validity evidence from a longitudinal validity study with eight medical schools and evaluation results from the administrations, including how applicants who took the exam prepared for and performed on the exam, group differences, and correlations with other admissions data.
    • Offers recommendations and best practices to support medical schools incorporating PREview scores into holistic review.
    • Highlights the value added by these scores when considered as part of pre-screenings, application reviews, and admissions decisions.
