About GRR

The Government Relations Representatives (GRR) membership includes individuals responsible for federal government relations at the nation’s medical schools, teaching hospitals, and health systems.

How to Become a GRR
GRR membership requires written designation by a medical school dean, teaching hospital/health system CEO, or academic society leader. The designation may be delivered by email (with an electronic signature) to Keith Krosinsky (

GRR leadership is provided by a steering committee of individuals nominated by their peers. Serving in an advisory role, the Steering Committee helps set meeting agendas, suggests items for discussion by the full GRR membership, and acts as a liaison between the group and AAMC staff.

The GRR meets three times a year in Washington, DC (typically in early March, June, and September). Meetings generally begin on Monday afternoon and feature speakers with expertise on front-burner issues that affect medical schools and teaching hospitals. While a cocktail reception formally wraps up the first day’s agenda, many attendees gather on Monday evening for informal dinners at local restaurants. Both the reception and informal dinners are terrific opportunities to network and share ideas with colleagues. GRR meetings continue the next morning with additional speakers (often Hill or agency staff) and legislative/regulatory updates from AAMC staff. Day-two concludes by Noon to allow GRRs time for Hill visits before departing Washington.
