In 2022, the AAMC Group on Research, Education, and Training (GREAT) Assessing Fairness and Transparency in Postdoctoral Hiring Working group was created and began working to develop an assessment guide for the postdoctoral training community.
This document covers three main areas of postdoctoral hiring: Recruitment Strategy, Application and Selection Process, and the Hiring and Onboarding Process with an assessment guide for each area. This document is meant to guide institutions in examining their current postdoctoral hiring processes and allow for the development of new guidelines, policies, and practices in areas that will increase fairness and transparency at their institutions.
The GREAT Assessing Fairness and Transparency in Postdoctoral Hiring Working Group created this document, which aims to guide assessment of institutional postdoctoral hiring practices. We used a systematic approach to develop the toolkit, allowing the postdoctoral training community to share their collective experience and knowledge. All content in this toolkit reflects the views of the working group and does not reflect the official position or policy of the AAMC unless clearly specified.
