In this video, Lee Jones, MD, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California Davis School of Medicine, interviews Mitchell R. Lunn, MD, a Clinical Fellow in the Division of Nephrology, in the Department of Medicine, at the University of California San Francisco, School of Medicine. In this engaging conversation, they discuss: the definition of inclusiveness and the steps necessary for creating an inclusive environment, the importance of LGBT employee groups and LGBT student groups, common questions associated with inclusiveness, the importance of inclusive language, the best strategies for promoting inclusivity in institutional settings, common challenges faced in creating an inclusive institutional climate, and the impact of institutional climate in facilitating or hindering the ability of trainees to learn how to provide culturally competent care to patients who are LGBT and/or born with DSD.
