The AAMC organized and led Capitol Hill meetings on June 8 for medical students from AAMC-member institutions to discuss federal programs that support the physician workforce and promote access to medical education.
The students described to congressional staff the need to expand graduate medical education through the AAMC-endorsed Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act of 2025 (H.R. 4731/ S. 2439). Student leaders also informed congressional staff about the evolving student financial aid landscape and provided an overview of optimal student aid options for aspiring physicians, highlighting examples from their personal experiences.
