The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health advanced a slate of health care bills in a May 16 markup. In a unanimous vote, the subcommittee advanced the Telehealth Modernization Act of 2024 (H.R. 7623), which would extend key COVID-19 era telehealth flexibilities, a policy the AAMC supports, for two years, until Dec. 31, 2026 [refer to Washington Highlights, March 15]. The legislation was amended to include a five-year extension of the AAMC-supported Acute Hospital Care at Home program, until Dec. 31, 2029. The bills will now move to the full committee for consideration.
