In a July 11 statement, the Joint Associations Group (JAG) on Indirect Costs, of which the AAMC is a member, “released its recommendation to Congress and the executive  branch for a new model to replace the current facilities and administrative (F&A) cost structure that the federal government uses to fund the indirect expenses that universities and other research organizations incur when conducting federally funded research on behalf of the American people.”

Following the release of the recommendation, JAG hosted a town hall webinar on July 15 to present the Financial Accountability in Research (FAIR) model to the research community. Foundational elements of the FAIR model include reducing confusion and misunderstanding, promoting transparency, and ensuring greater efficiency. A recording of the webinar, resources on the FAIR model, and opportunities to submit questions regarding the model are available on the JAG website.
