On Dec. 12, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), released a notice of request for information (RFI), Creating a National Healthcare System Action Alliance to Advance Patient Safety. The RFI follows a Nov. 14 public meeting where HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra introduced the Action Alliance.

The HHS and AHRQ intend for the Action Alliance to renew commitment to patient and workforce safety and bring together health care system leaders, federal partners, patients and families, and other invested parties as part of a new learning community that will launch in 2023. AHRQ seeks feedback to inform its development of the voluntary Action Alliance, including the nonfinancial ways the HHS can best support health care delivery systems, understand the challenges health care providers face as they emerge from the pandemic, and how the Action Alliance can include the advancement of health equity within patient and workforce safety efforts.
