The AAMC submitted comments to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) in response to a request for information on federal policies that aim to “accelerate the American scientific enterprise.”
In its Dec. 22 letter, the AAMC stressed the vital role of academic medicine in the research ecosystem (PDF) and provided recommendations to improve policies and processes for issues such as regulatory burden, licensing, and ensuring that the benefits of research are available to all. The AAMC also encouraged the OSTP to solicit community input as it considers new initiatives and directions, whether through town halls, webinars, or formal requests for information.
