The AAMC joined other health care invested parties in a sign-on letter in support of the Saving Access to Laboratory Services (SALSA) Act (S. 1000/ H.R. 2377). The bipartisan legislation would make the Medicare payment system for laboratory services more predictable and sustainable by not only mitigating pending Medicare cuts, but also by updating the payment system to avoid future cuts. The letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) urged the leaders to pass SALSA before the end of the year.
