Nearly 400 organizations in the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research, which is convened by the AAMC, sent an Oct. 22 letter (PDF) urging House and Senate leadership and appropriations leaders to finalize a robust, bipartisan fiscal year (FY) 2027 appropriation for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by the end of the calendar year. The letter emphasized the importance of timely, predictable funding to sustaining medical research, while also encouraging Congress to preserve and build on enacted legislative safeguards that advance federally funded medical research.
