The AAMC joined a June 28 letter signed by 130 other organizations requesting $14 million for the Telehealth Resource Centers (TRC) program (PDF) through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Office for the Advancement of Telehealth for fiscal year (FY) 2025. The request reflects a $9.5 million (67.9%) increase over FY 2024.

The letter described the unique role of TRCs to improve telehealth systems. “When telehealth uptake exploded during the COVID-19 pandemic, TRCs were the only entities in the nation capable of rapidly mobilizing to provide the technical assistance needed to transition the U.S. health system from in-person to virtual care. TRCs experienced up to an 800% increase in demand for their assistance during this time, and through their efforts ensured continued access to health services nationwide.”

The House Appropriations Committee approved an FY 2025 spending bill that would provide $44.6 million for the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth, a $2.5 million (5%) increase from FY 24 (see related story).
