In conjunction with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's (CBCF) 54th Annual Legislative Conference and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's (CHCI) 48th Leadership Conference, the AAMC hosted a reception jointly sponsored with the National Hispanic Medical Association, the National Medical Association, and the National Minority Quality Forum. The reception brought together health policy leaders and stakeholders to honor the CBCF and CHCI annual conferences and the shared commitment to advancing the health of people everywhere.
During the reception, AMC Chief Public Policy Officer Danielle Turnipseed, JD, MHSA, MPP, presented the 2025 AAMC ACE Award for Advocacy, Collaboration, and Education to Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.), ranking member of the House Education and Workforce Committee, in recognition of his work to protect federal student aid and expand access to affordable health care. She also presented the 2025 AAMC ACE Award to Michellene Davis, Esq., president and CEO of National Medical Fellowships; Maria Soto-Greene, MD, MS-HPEd, professor and executive vice dean at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School; and David Cazares Dorantes, second-year medical student at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. Rep. Raul Ruiz, MD (D-Calif), member of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health and an advocate of academic medicine priorities, was presented with a 2025 ACE Award on Sept. 18 [refer to Washington Highlights, Sept. 19].
