USDA Distance Learning & Telemedicine Grants

July 13 -- Deadline to apply for funding from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of Rural Development to expand telemedicine and remote health education opportunities in rural communities. 

NIH Director’s New Innovator Award Program (DP2)

Aug. 21 -- Deadline to apply for this opportunity from the NIH High Risk, High Reward Program for early-career researchers who propose "highly innovative research projects with the potential to produce a major impact on broad, important areas relevant to the mission of NIH." An informational webinar will be held Thursday, June 25, 2020, at 3 p.m. ET.

Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Networks for Clinical and Translational Research (IDeA-CTR) (U54)

Sept. 7-- Deadline to submit an LOI for this funding opportunity from the NIH to support IDeA-CTR networks that will "expand the capacity for clinical and translational research in IDeA-eligible states/jurisdictions and enhance the competitiveness of the investigators to obtain extramural funding for clinical and translational research."

Practice-Based Research for Implementing Scalable Evidence-Based Prevention Interventions in Primary Care Settings

Sept. 15 -- New, extended deadline to submit a letter of intent for these R01 & R34 funding opportunities from the NIH for "practice-based research aimed at testing the effectiveness of developmentally-focused theory-based efficacious prevention interventions which may impact mental health outcomes, including suicide behaviors and serious mental illness."

Biomedical Data Repository (U24)

Sept. 25— Deadline to submit an application for this grant from the NIH to fund the curation of biomedical data repositories that “ingest, archive, preserve, manage, distribute, and make accessible the data related to a particular system or systems.” This NOSI from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) identifies seven areas of high priority for research projects "focused on the establishment of new, or continued development of established cancer data resources that use state-of-the-art and cost-effective technologies and approaches, and that are of high value to the broad cancer research community."

PCORI Phased Large Awards for Comparative Effectiveness Research

Sept. 29 -- Deadline to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) for this funding opportunity from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) for "high-quality comparative effectiveness research (CER) projects that will examine a critical patient-centered research question that is also relevant to decision makers and other stakeholders." 

NIH Director’s Transformative Research Awards (R01)

Sept. 30 -- Deadline to apply for this award which "supports individual scientists or groups of scientists proposing groundbreaking, exceptionally innovative, original, and/or unconventional research with the potential to create new scientific paradigms, establish entirely new and improved clinical approaches, or develop transformative technologies." An pre-application webinar will be held Monday, June 29, 2020, at 3 p.m. ET.

FCC COVID-19 Telehealth Program

Applications are open on a rolling basis for this funding program from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) which provides "immediate support to eligible health care providers responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by fully funding their telecommunications services, information services, and devices necessary to provide critical connected care services until the program’s funds have been expended or the COVID-19 pandemic has ended."

National Science Foundation RAPID Funding for COVID-19

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is granting funds on a rolling basis for "non-medical, non-clinical-care research that can be used immediately to explore how to model and understand the spread of COVID-19, to inform and educate about the science
of virus transmission and prevention, and to encourage the development of processes and actions to address this global challenge" through its Rapid Response Research (RAPID) funding mechanism.
