The AAMC Value Based Care (VBC) Team was formed in 2012, when the AAMC became a facilitator convener in the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative. Since then, we have worked to support the abilities of academic medical centers (AMCs) to adapt and thrive under alternative models of payment, as measured by the AMCs’ success in managing cost and improving quality.
Our team offers policy interpretation, advocacy support, and clinical insights on best practices. Our collaboratives offer the opportunity to network with other academic health systems involved in value based care programs. We currently offer targeted support for Council of Teaching Hospitals (COTH) members in the following programs:
- Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) in Medicare Shared Savings and other programs
- Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) Advanced
- Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR)
- Primary Care First (PCF)
- Oncology Care Model (OCM)
- Radiation Oncology (RO)
