Engaging Diverse Medical Students and Residents to Consider Academic Medicine Careers

Building the Next Generation of Academic Physicians Initiative Webinar: Engaging Diverse Medical Students and Residents to Consider Academic Medicine Careers (EST Webinar)

    Video Length: 56 minutes

    Description:

Why aren’t more medical students and residents, especially those from traditionally underrepresented communities, pursuing a career in academic medicine? Are they aware of the rewarding attributes of this career path?

We invite medical students and residents to listen to this interactive webinar to learn more about the benefits of pursuing a career in academic medicine. We will engage racial and ethnic minority senior faculty and administrators as well as medical student and residents to debunk the myths, and perceived barriers that may dissuade medical students and residents from joining the ranks of their esteemed colleagues in academic medicine.

The webinar will include 45 minutes of presentation and 15 minutes for facilitated discussion.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Exploring existing perceptions about academic medicine.

    • Identifying the broad array of academic medicine career paths and opportunities.

    • Sharing resources and local conferences to learn more about academic medicine.
