OVERVIEW AND BENEFITS

As the scientific knowledge base important to the learning and practice of medicine continues to change, the premedical and medical curricula must evolve to equip future physicians with a strong scientific foundation upon which to initiate modern medical practice. Principles, competencies, and objectives are presented as a blueprint to design premedical and medical school educational programs. This report represents the beginning of a broad dialogue within the undergraduate and medical education communities to reinvigorate the scientific preparation of physicians.
