Understanding Unconscious Bias in Residency Recruitment

Unconscious bias may have a significant impact on the medical residency application process. In support of the ERAS team’s commitment to Training and Learning, the AAMC’s Office of Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion has developed and shared two informative videos available for your understanding of unconscious bias in academic medicine and the search and recruitment process.

Overall, the AAMC strives to build member capacity by improving institutions’ ability to use diversity as a driver of excellence. We develop strategic initiatives to cultivate a diverse and culturally prepared workforce, advance inclusion excellence, imbue equity-mindedness, and enhance engagement with local communities.
