University of North Carolina School of Medicine Student Infographic on the Impact of COVID-19 in Children
Description
Our goal is to provide an educational infographic about the multifaceted impact of COVID-19 in children. Although children are not at the highest risk for severe illness and complications from COVID-19, necessary pandemic public health measures have had important consequences for the health and well-being of children, especially vulnerable pediatric subpopulations. School closures, social distancing, and reduction in certain social services are just some of the measures intended to curb COVID-19 spread that have substantially impacted children’s lives in unique ways. This infographic outlines numerous ways that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected children’s health, safety, and education across the globe. It was created by a team of four first year medical students as a final project for a student-led COVID-19 course at the UNC School of Medicine. The seminar course was overseen by Kurt Gilliland, PhD, Associate Dean of Curriculum. Authors: Lorena Millo, Anna Osment, Dillon Strepay, and Nick Cochran.
