Pandemics in the Media
Description
The Pandemics in Media Group was created to provide a safe place for open discussion related to the COVID-19 pandemic in the media, as well as ways to maintain personal and communal wellness. To provide a comprehensive overview of COVID-19, global media coverage of this pandemic from various sources, including reliable news articles, journals, podcasts, and documentaries, and its analysis were shared and discussed amongst the community. Global strategies for curbing the spread of this pandemic and their historical contexts were discussed. Self-care, coping strategies, and wellness were addressed through additional sources, such as fictional literature, opinion-editorial pieces, theological texts, and films. Through these different types of media, multiple dimensions of wellness were explored, including emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, financial, and environmental wellness, with the hopes to disseminate positivity within the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center community.
