HTX CovidSitters

Last Updated: May 21, 2020

HTX CovidSitters was founded by health professions students in the Houston Area to provide our community with support services in a time of unprecedented need. Our mission is to connect a student volunteer workforce to front line workers, families, and senior citizens in need of assistance during COVID-19. We are proud to be a part of the national CovidSitters movement. Our platform currently provides (1) household support (childcare, petsitting, errands, etc.) to healthcare workers families facing increased work burdens at this time, (2) online K-12 tutoring to children transitioning to online learning for the semester at a national level, and (3) eCards for Seniors to address populations susceptible to social isolation during quarantine. Our volunteer base consists of graduate and undergraduate students from institutions across the city of Houston including medical students, PA students, dental students, pharmacy students, law students and more. Since our launch on March 23rd 2020, we have received a phenomenal, truly inter-professional response from the Houston community in an effort to coordinate volunteer efforts during COVID-19. We continue to collaborate with the national CovidSitters network in an effort to appropriately develop our platform as the situation unfolds. Please contact us via our website if you would like to collaborate on any initiatives!
