    Johns Hopkins Medicine

With 25 million unique page views each year, Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Health is the most visited section on hopkinsmedicine.org. We relaunched this key section in April 2019 to provide a stronger user experience, a mobile-first design approach, and better pathways to related content on the site. The redesign also allows for personalized user experiences.

The section provides information about medical conditions and treatments, shares tips for healthy living, and offers guidance to caregivers who are helping a loved one. The content also showcases the expertise of Johns Hopkins doctors, researchers, and other medical specialists, helping establish Johns Hopkins as a trusted resource for health information. It also fills a key role in providing visitors with quick access to doctors, treatment centers, and appointment information through visually engaging calls to action. Relevant callouts throughout the section provide quick links to important medical care and groundbreaking research topics.

What was the most impactful part of your award-winning entry?

We launched the new site without all features in place, but we felt we still provided a stronger user experience than our old site.

What is one thing you learned from this experience?

Communication across all teams is a critical component in an undertaking this large, so it’s extremely helpful to plan for a lot of communication check-ins throughout the whole process.
