MedEdPORTAL Undergoes Upgrade
The MedEdPORTAL Web site is currently undergoing an overhaul designed to maximize user experience, streamline publication timelines, and lay the technical foundation for expansion into the arenas of continuing education and performance improvement.
The overhaul will provide the web site with modern functionality such as real-time sharing streams. The new structure also aims to accommodate potential partnerships with allied health professions to further drive interprofessionalism and innovation in health education.
In addition, the submission portion of the Web site is being transferred from Manuscript Central to Scholar One™—a peer-review management system that will centralize the publication process and maximize efficiency. The expansion into continuing education and performance improvement, or the Performance Improvement Portal, will focus on providing educational, research, quality improvement, and logistical resources to the academic continuing medical education community.
Once the concept is fully realized, multiple data- and service-driven programs will be delivered in a single, integrated portal that will cover the continuum of medical education.
MedEdPORTAL v3.0 is expected to go live this month, with the Performance Improvement Portal beginning construction in July.
More than 10,000 national and international medical schools, dental schools, and other health education institutions—representing 192 countries—have accessed and downloaded MedEdPORTAL publications.
