The Mid-Career Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar
December 6-9, 2014 - AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center - Austin, Texas
This three and a half-day seminar is primarily designed for women physicians and scientists holding medical school appointments at the associate professor level, and holding leadership positions within their discipline, department or institution. Assistant professors and full professors may be considered based on experience. The program goal is to enhance knowledge and skills needed to support progress along the path to leadership in academic medicine. The seminar covers leadership topics including but not limited to: "The Art and Style of Interpersonal Communication," "Managing from the Middle," and "Financing the Academic Mission." Additionally, the seminar offers skills related to the formation and use of teams, which are central to effective collaboration in various mission-critical activities. Small group "idea factories" will serve as venues for participants to work in small groups to brainstorm ways to advance women in academic medicine and science.
Seminar faculty members are chosen from various schools in the United States and Canada for their demonstrated leadership abilities and offer knowledge, inspiration and valuable career advice to participants. CME credit is available for eligible participants.
The application phase for MidWIMS will open in early September 2014.
