2018 GIR Leadership Institute

Information technology has become a strategic resource that is essential to the growth and success of medical schools and teaching hospitals. To manage this rapidly expanding area, academic health centers (AHCs) need visionary leaders who understand the complex responsibilities required for serving the academic medicine community.

The GIR Leadership Institute is the only program that provides IT leaders with the necessary information and tools to understand how to excel at the nexus of academic, research, and clinical systems in order to support organizations as they move to more integrated and data driven models. This intense, highly interactive four-day Institute is limited to 42 fellows, who must be nominated by their institution's leadership to participate.

This Institute is designed for information resource leaders who are new to the academic health center environment, those with new leadership responsibilities, and anticipated leaders in the next three to five years. Individuals with strong leadership potential, drive, appreciation of different perspectives, and the ability to work on a team will get the most from the program.

Each graduate leaves with the necessary tools to understand the business and cultural dynamics of the AHC, new leadership abilities, decision-making skills, and the ability to assess the range of available technology solutions. Graduates are also granted access to a variety of alumni-only resources and tools.

Please contact Shira Kaplan at skaplan@aamc.org or Heather Sacks hsacks@aamc.org for further information.
