Samuel Parrish, M.D.
Dr. Samuel Parrish is the senior associate dean for student affairs and admissions at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Parrish currently serves as the national chair for the AAMC's Committee on Student Affairs and sits on the Group on Student Affairs' national steering committee. He has served as the Northeast Group on Student Affairs representative to the Committee on Student Affairs, as the medical director of the Bridge drug and alcohol treatment program in Philadelphia, and on the board of directors of the Governor's Task force for Drug and Alcohol Abuse for the state of North Carolina.
Dr. Parrish received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He took residency training in child health at the University of Missouri where he was also chief resident. Dr. Parrish completed fellowship training in adolescent medicine at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center and joined the faculty of the Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP) following his fellowship. He established the division of adolescent medicine at MCP and served as chief until 1992 when he became residency director for the department of pediatrics at East Carolina University. Dr. Parrish subsequently served as a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University until he joined Drexel University College of Medicine as associate dean for student affairs in January of 2001.
