Integrating LGBT and DSD Content into Medical School Curricula

In this video, Andrew Hollenbach, PhD interviews three leaders in the academic medicine community on how to best include LGBT and DSD content into the medical school curricula. The panelists discuss how internal and external factors can influence faculty and students success in incorporating LGBT and DSD content; tips and effective strategies for including and developing this content; how to handle the systematic barriers that may be encountered when attempting to include this content; how to maintain momentum when leading these efforts; and evidence-based teaching methods to aid in optimal learning.

Learning Objectives:
After viewing this video, the learner will be able to:

  • Analyze at least 3 historical barriers to inclusion of content on LGBT and DSD health in undergraduate medical curricula.
  • Describe at least 3 successful strategies for including content on LGBT and DSD health in undergraduate medical curricula.
  • Develop a plan for adding LGBT and DSD health content in the learner’s undergraduate medical curriculum.
