Q. What is the requirement in terms of showing the difference between formative and summative when reporting curriculum data?

A.Each documented assessment requires indication of whether it is formative or summative. This can be done when documenting how content in teaching events will be assessed and/or when documenting Course Assessment by creating Assessment Event(s) (meaning no instructional methods are linked to the event) that document how the course is assessed. Either way, any time the CI sees an assessment event with a Formative tag, it knows to place an ‘x’ in the Formative Assessment column of the Course and Clerkship Assessment tables in the Verification Report. The system also counts the number of assessments based on the number of Assessment Event(s) for each Course and Clerkship and populates the appropriate columns in the Couse and Clerkship Assessment Tables.
