Active Residents, 2013-2015


The table below displays the number of MD-PhD dual-degree program graduates from U.S. MD-granting medical schools in residency programs, by specialty, for years 2013 through 2015. The data for total active residents are also limited to graduates from U.S. MD-granting medical schools. For example, 15 of 226 total active residents in allergy and immunology programs in 2013 graduated with a dual MD-PhD degree from a U.S. MD-granting medical school. Counts shown for specialties do not include counts for the related subspecialties. Please contact residentreport@aamc.org with any comments or questions.


Selected Finding: In the most recent year (2015), 3.5 percent of all active residents who are graduates from U.S. MD-granting medical schools were MD-PhD graduates.
