About the awards

To recognize the importance of effective career decisions and the faculty and staff who support students in the career-planning process, CiM annually presents three awards: a program, a faculty advisor, and a staff award. (Log in to the award portal to view criteria for each award.)

Nominations may be submitted by a medical school dean, designee, OSR representative, or other faculty or staff member. Individuals may nominate themselves. A school may submit one nomination per award category.

Nomination process

The CiM Advisory Committee will review submissions over the summer and determine the awardees in August. Winners will be notified in September and receive a crystal award at Learn Serve Lead 2022: The AAMC Annual Meeting in Nashville.

Preparing a nomination

  • Collaborate at your school to consider potential nominees and choose final selection(s).
  • For each nomination, complete the online form and add 1-3 supporting documents. These can include letters of support from advisees, colleagues, and administrators, evaluations, institutional-level awards, representative advising materials developed by the nominee, and relevant articles/publications.
  • Pro tip: Reference past winners for examples and ideas of what to include in your nomination.
