    2020 GREAT and GWIMS Joint Conference: Call for Posters and 5-Minute Talks Now Open!

    The AAMC Graduate Research, Education and Training (GREAT) Group and the Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) will hold a joint conference in Chicago, IL. This unique event will bring advocates for women’s advancement and leadership in science and medicine together with faculty and administrative leaders of biomedical PhD, MD-PhD, and postdoctoral programs, enabling networking and exploration of new opportunities for synergy between these communities.

    The call for posters and the popular 5-minute talks (previously called ‘rapid fire’ or podium presentations) are now open and we welcome submissions on a range of topics including:

    • Transitions – Career Transitions; Career Development & Exploration; Developing the next generation of leaders; The Changing Academy
    • Resiliency – Resilience and Wellness; Addressing sexual and gender harassment in academic medicine and scientific environments; Training and Educational Programs; Mental Health; Financial Resiliency
    • Culture and Climate – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Inclusive and Safe Environments; Compliance and Risk Management; Organizational Policies, Practices and Procedures; Advocacy; Teaching and Mentoring
    • Other Emerging Topics – Administration of Research Training; Training Outcomes Assessment; Training Methods; Curriculum & Competencies; Caregiving (e.g. children, elders)

    Why Present at the 2020 GREAT Group and GWIMS Joint Professional Development Conference?

    Presenting at the conference enables the sharing of knowledge, experiences, ideas, and information, and bolsters your professional scholarship portfolio. Submit a proposal to share your strategies and solutions.  The poster and flash talk presentation are opportunities to share your successes, failures and lessons learned, future directions, promising practices, collaborations, or solutions to community-wide issues.

    What is a 5-minute Talk?

    This is session features a 5-minute oral presentation from each speaker and a Q&A session after each set of grouped presentations.
