Experts shared perspectives on the impact of conflict in academic health, the impact of technology, and the era of inter-professional education and innovation in medical education.
AAHCI Announces Transition of Middle East and North Africa Regional Office
July 1, 2023: AAHCI announced the transition of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Office from the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) in Lebanon to Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) in Dubai. Read the announcement.
AAHCI 2022 MENA Regional Meeting
Oct. 1-2, 2022: AAHCI’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Office host, the American University of Beirut Medical Center, co-organized an in-person meeting with Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences and Gulf Medical University Academic Health Center in Dubai and Ajman, UAE. Under the theme “Transforming Academic Health Centers: Innovation and Resilience,” members in the region and beyond gathered to discuss the significant impact that the COVID-19 pandemic and other global conflicts have had on academic health centers and the resultant innovations.

Case Studies from The Middle East
Feb. 16, 2022: The MENA region is a diverse part of the world with a wide range of continuously shifting socioeconomic and geopolitical complexities. At the same time, many countries in the region are conflict-ridden, and the region has been frequently characterized as an epicenter for fragility and humanitarian crises. Health systems, and in particular their delivery component, must continue to provide health care services in challenging circumstances such as what many countries in the MENA region endure. This necessitates reconfiguring health care delivery, molding standard operating procedures into an innovative, flexible, unplanned, and less-than-ideal system.
