April 13, 2018—Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) announced April 11 that he will not seek re-election in 2018.


Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) April 10 was officially selected as Senate Appropriations Committee Chair for the remainder of the 115th Congress. Shelby previously served as the committee’s vice chairman for the 113th Congress.


HHS Secretary Alex Azar April 6 announced that Andrew Boehler will serve as the new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Director. Boelher is the former CEO and founder of Landmark Health.


Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) April 6 announced that he would resign immediately from Congress. He had previously planned to serve the remainder of his term amid allegations of sexual harassment.
