The Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) will hold a Dec. 7 Board of Governors Meeting. This meeting is open to the public and can be viewed online.

Dec. 8: HIT Policy Committee Virtual Meeting
9:30 a.m.; Webinar
The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) Health Information Technology (HIT) Policy Committee will meet via webinar to discuss recommendations on a policy framework for the development and adoption of a nationwide health information infrastructure, including standards for the exchange of patient medical information.

Dec. 8: Senate HELP Hearing on Opioid Abuse in America
10 a.m.; 430 Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee will hold a hearing examining the opioid abuse in America. A full witness list will be made available closer to the hearing date.

Dec. 8: E&C Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Hearing on ACA
10 a.m.; 2322 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing to examine the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) State Insurance Marketplace. A full witness list will be made available closer to the hearing date.

Dec. 8: House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee Hearing on Drug Resistant Tuberculosis
2 p.m.; 2200 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations will hold a hearing on drug resistant tuberculosis. Tom Frieden, M.D., Director for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Ariel Pablos-Mendez, M.D., Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Global Health, will testify.

Dec. 9: E&C Health Subcommittee Hearing on Bipartisan Health Care Legislation
10 a.m.; 2123 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee will hold a hearing examining six bipartisan health care bills, including H.R. 2713, the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act.

Dec. 9: Special Committee on Aging Hearing on Drug Prices
2:30 p.m.; G-50 Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The Senate Special Committee on Aging will hold a hearing on the price spikes in off-patent drugs. A full witness list can be found on the committee’s website. Experts from Johns Hopkins University, University of Utah, and University of Alabama at Birmingham, will provide testimony.

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) will host a meeting on Dec 10-11. A full agenda will be posted on the MedPAC website when available.

The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) Health Information Technology (HIT) Policy Committee will meet via webinar to discuss standards implementation, specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange of health information.
