Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) Nov. 4 was selected by the Republican Steering Committee to serve as the House Ways and Means Chairman, a position recently vacated by newly-elected Speaker Paul Ryan (R- Wis.). The Ways and Means Committee is the chief tax-writing committee in the House and shares a large jurisdiction over health care, including the Medicare program. 

Rep. Brady has served in Congress since 1996 and most recently served as chairman of the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee.
