June 24: HIT Standards Committee

The  Health Information Technology (IT) Standards Committee will meet to make recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health IT on standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange and use of health information.

June 24: House W&M Hearing on Health Law and Insurance Premiums

The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight will hold a hearing on the impact of the Affordable Care Act on health insurance premiums. Witness testimony will be made available on the committee’s website.

The House Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Committee will hold a hearing to discuss the current state of the department’s fiscal year (FY) 2015 budget.

June 25: FASHP Briefing on Interprofessional Education
12 p.m.; Capitol Visitor Center Congressional Meeting Room North
The Federation of Association of Schools of The Health Professions will host an informative briefing on the value of interprofessional education to prepare health professionals for collaborative practice in health care. Stephen Shannon, D.O., MPH, president and CEO of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) will moderate a panel of speakers featuring: Jay Perman, M.D., president, University of Maryland, Baltimore; Linda McCauley, Ph.D., R.N., dean and professor, Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University; and Sierra Dickman Cuppett, PA-S., physician assistant student, Shenandoah University.
