Nov. 4: Health IT Policy Committee Meeting

The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology (HIT) Policy Committee will meet to discuss recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health IT on a policy framework for the development and adoption of a nationwide health information infrastructure, including standards for the exchange of patient medical information.

Nov. 5-6: Bioethics Meeting

The Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues will hold its 19th meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah. Agenda items include a discussion on the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative and ongoing work in neuroscience.

Nov. 5-6: NACNEP Meeting

The National Advisory Committee on Nursing Education and Practice (NACNEP) will hold the first of two required annual meetings to discuss the future of nursing practice in the context of interprofessional education and practice.

Nov. 6-7: MedPAC Meeting
9:30 a.m.; 1300 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C.
The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) will hold a public meeting and will solicit comments on the agenda via its website.

Nov. 12: Senate Appropriations Committee Ebola Hearing
2 p.m.; G-50 Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The Senate Appropriations Committee will hold a hearing on the government’s response to the Ebola outbreak. Witnesses include: Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Thomas Frieden, M.D., M.P.H.; National Institutes of Health National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci, M.D.; and Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson.

Nov. 13: House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Hearing
10 a.m.; 334 Cannon House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs will hold a hearing to discuss the implementation of the Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014.
