The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Scientific Management Review Board (SMRB) will hold a meeting to discuss and solutions to engaging pre-college students in biomedical science, as well as ways to streamline the NIH grant review, award, and management process while maintaining proper oversight.

Oct. 16: House Subcommittee Hearing on Ebola Response

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing to discuss the U.S. public health response to the Ebola outbreak. Tom Frieden, M.D., M.P.H, director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Anthony Fauci, M.D., director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health, are scheduled to testify.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) will host a teleconference/webinar to describe its proposed process for peer review and public release of its primary research findings. A question and answer session for attendees will follow the PCORI presentation.
