AAMC Submits Comments on Aligning Clinical Quality Measures for Group Practices

April 12, 2013—The AAMC Apr. 5 submitted comments  to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)’s request for information (RFI) on aligning clinical quality measures (CQM) reported by physicians for federal programs, such as the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and the Electronic Heath Record Incentive Program (EHR Incentive Program), and other non-federal programs.

The AAMC stated the need for additional alignment for reporting at the group level between PQRS and the EHR Incentive Program and outlined several issues that need to be addressed before the programs can align. The AAMC also noted that quality reporting from the EHR is relatively new and that a parallel process is needed to allow providers and vendors to validate the data extracted from the EHR.
