PCORI Seeks Input on Draft Methodology Report

July 27, 2012—The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) invites public comment on the draft of its recently released methodology report. The draft report addresses development of standards to inform patient-centered outcomes research, and is intended to guide applicants for PCORI funding in selecting appropriate research design. Comments will be accepted on the PCORI Web site through Sept.14.

The report contributes to fulfilling the mandate of PCORI to provide relevant and trustworthy information to healthcare providers and patients. PCORI anticipates the content of the report will evolve over time as additional information stimulates revision.

PCORI’s Board of Governors approved the draft at their May 2012 meeting, after hearing from the Methodology Committee about the report’s development (see Washington Highlights, May 25). After public feedback on the report is collected and the content is revised as necessary in response to comments, the Board of Governors expects to consider and approve the final methodology report in November 2012.
