March 6: Ways and Means Health Subcommittee Hearing on IPAB
10 a.m.; 1100 Longworth House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The Health Subcommittee of House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing on the impact of the new Independent Payment Advisory Board on Medicare.

March 6: House Appropriations Hearing with HHS Secretary Sebelius
2:00 p.m.; 2358-C Rayburn House Office Building
The House Committee on Appropriations will hear testimony from Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius regarding FY 2013 appropriations.

March 6: Hearing on America’s Research Competitiveness with OSTP Director
2:30 p.m.; 252 Russell Senate Office Building; Washington, D.C.
The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Science and Space Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled “Keeping America Competitive Through Investment in Research and Development.” The subcommittee will hear testimony from the Office of Science and Technology Policy Director John Holdren, Ph.D.

March 7:Health IT Meaningful Use Workgroup Meeting

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (HIT) Meaningful Use Workgroup will meet to discuss recommendations on how to define meaningful use in the short- and long-term; ways electronic health records (EHRs) can support meaningful use; and how providers can demonstrate meaningful use

March 7: Senate Appropriations Hearing with HHS Secretary Sebelius

The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies will hear testimony from the Secretary of Health and Human Services  Kathleen Sebelius regarding FY 2013 appropriations.

March 8-9: MedPAC Meeting
1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.; Washington, D.C.
The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) will hold a public meeting and is soliciting comments on the agenda via its website.

March 9: PCAST Meeting
10:00 a.m.; 1779 Massachusetts Avenue N.W.; Washington, D.C.
The President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) will hold a public meeting where they are tentatively scheduled to hear from speakers who will provide an overview of the Department of Agriculture’s science, technology, and innovation activities, and China and U.S. competitiveness. PCAST also will receive an update on the status of several of its studies including those on nanotechnology research and development, the future of the U.S. science and technology research enterprise, and advancing innovation in drug development and evaluation.
