On the Hill …

January 13, 2012—Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Calif.) Jan. 7 announced he will retire after 13 terms in Congress. Rep Gallegly represents the 24th district of California and serves as the Vice Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Chair of the Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Enforcement.

Rep. Wally Herger (R-Calif.) Jan. 10 also announced he will not seek a 14th term in 2012, ending his service as Congressman for the second district of California. Rep. Herger chairs the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health.

Additionally, Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) Jan. 12 announced that he will not seek reelection at the end of this term after 33 years representing the 41st district of California in Congress. Rep. Lewis is the longest-serving Republican member of Congress from California in history. Formerly the Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, he currently serves as Chairman Emeritus and sits on the Labor-HHS-Education Subcommittee.
