HRSA Releases Notice of Funding Opportunity for THCGME Program

Andrew Amari, Hospital Policy and Regulatory Specialist

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) June 13 announced a notice of funding opportunity for the fiscal year (FY) 2020 Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) Program.

The THCGME Program supports the education and training of residents and new or expanded primary care residency training programs in community-based ambulatory patient care centers, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

HRSA anticipates approximately $120 million to fund up to 61 awardees comprised of currently eligible or newly qualified hospitals (56 continuation awards and up to five new awards). The period of performance is four years (July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2024), but funding beyond FY 2020 will depend on availability of appropriated funds for the program. The notice of funding specifically details award information, applicant eligibility, and required application content.

Applications are due to Grants.gov by August 30.
