    Senate Passes PAHPA Reauthorization

Tannaz Rasouli, Sr. Director, Public Policy & Strategic Outreach
    Allyson Perleoni, Director, Government Relations

The Senate May 16 passed by voice vote the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act (PAHPAI, S.1379). The legislation was introduced by Sen. Burr (R-N.C.) last week and reauthorizes the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA) along with the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP), the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS), and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). The stand-alone bill did not include the same over the counter (OTC) provisions that were passed by the House but were holding the passage of the legislation in the Senate. The House must now pass a stand-alone bill.
