The AAMC joined 46 organizations and institutions in a Dec. 9 letter to the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees opposing the inclusion of an SBIR reauthorization in the National Defense Authorization Act.

In response to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy’s (OSTP) request for information, the AAMC urges creation of new partnerships in research, including around “pre-competitive” technology, and for new models and resources to facilitate the study of disease, such as biomarkers. The Association also calls for policies that permit sharing of research facilities, training for diverse research workforce, and that promote “evidence-based regulation.”

In a Nov. 15 letter to the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittees, the AAMC urged appropriators “to prioritize the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Title VII health professions education programs, and the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) in the final conference agreement” for the FY 2012 spending bill.
