The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) May 22 held its Board of Governor's Meeting via teleconference. During his update to the board, Executive Director Joe Selby, MD, MPH, reported that in fiscal year (FY) 2018, PCORI will end up committing less funding to research than originally anticipated because none of the proposals received for a large funding announcement planned for the second quarter of 2018 were selected to receive funding. Consequently, he noted that PCORI will likely offer one additional funding announcement in early FY 2019.
At the meeting, Kathy Hudson, PhD, Executive Director of the People-Centered Research Foundation (PCRF), presented to the Board of Governors and described the relationship between PCORI, PCORnet, and PCRF. The leaders of the networks participating in PCORnet established PCRF as nonprofit charitable organization with the goal of ensuring the long-term sustainability of PCORnet. PCRF is looking to secure research support through public and private funders.
The next Board of Governors meeting will occur on June 19.
