NRSA Stipends Increase by 2 Percent

Jodi (Lubetsky) Yellin, Director, Science Policy

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Dec. 30 issued its fiscal year (FY) 2015 stipend levels for trainees receiving Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards (NRSAs). NIH will implement a 2 percent increase at all stipend levels.

The notice notes the recommendation of the NIH Advisory Committee to the Director Biomedical Research Workforce Working Group to increase NRSA stipends. Stipend levels also increased in FY2014. Tuition and fees, training related expenses for trainees, and the institutional allowance for individual fellows remain unchanged.
