The National Institutes of Health (NIH) on April 15 announced its fiscal year (FY) 2022 stipend level for trainees receiving Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards (NRSAs) will increase by approximately 2% for predocs and 2% for postdocs. The NRSA program is the flagship NIH training program to help ensure that a diverse, highly trained pool of scientists is available to address the nation’s biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research needs.

The increases are consistent with the recommendations of the Advisory Committee to the Director on the biomedical research workforce. The full range of stipend adjustments for FY 2022 is described in NIH Guide Notice NOT-OD-22-108.
