The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) officially withdrew the proposed Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Regulation on Jan. 7.
MS Administrator Seema Verma said in a tweet, “While we support its intent, further work is needed to ensure accountability for states while protecting critical safety-net care for vulnerable patients.”
The AAMC previously submitted comments opposing the proposal, which would have significantly changed state Medicaid program financing and dramatically reduced supplemental payments for providers [see Washington Highlights, Jan. 31, 2020].
