The AAMC joined over 140 members of the Coalition for National Science Funding in June 15 letters to House and Senate appropriators asking that they fund the National Science Foundation (NSF) “at the highest possible amount building on [fiscal year (FY) 2023] funding levels.”
The AAMC previously joined the coalition in requesting a funding level of $11.9 billion for the NSF in FY 2024 [refer to Washington Highlights, March 17]. House appropriators on June 13 and Senate appropriators on June 22 approved suballocations for each chamber’s Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies spending bill [refer to Washington Highlights, June 16, June 23], but have not yet released draft spending bills for the upcoming fiscal year.
